A Time to Fast

This is a great time of the year, Passover. It is two of the greatest victories the Lord has given us to celebrate. The first one occurred when the Israelites were held captive in the land of Egypt. He brought them out with the silver and the gold. The Bible says He even guided them with a cloud by day and fire by night. The desert heat is very intense so he shielded them from that during the day and at night it is very cold and he provided warmth and light to see. Doesn’t that show that the God we serve, will not only deliver us, but will also provide and shelter us? To me it is the greatest escape in history!
If that was not enough, this is also the season that God chose for His only son to be crucified so that the whole world could be saved. I don’t have time to share on why God chose this time but my dad did a good job in his book,”Touching the Heart of God”…book plug. This is the greatest victory of our time and we should treat it as holy. That all who call on the name of the Lord would be saved (Romans 10:13)!
With all of the craziness going on in the world, one being three major earthquakes happening over the weekend in two completely different places, which are just birth pains of His soon return (Matthew 24), I want to propose something to you. More correctly, I want to encourage you to separate yourselves during this time and join me in a fast. Usually, this is a time when my family abstains from yeast for a week, which is scripturally used as a symbol of sin from the Apostle Paul (Galatians 5:9). I ask that you would pray and seek the Lord to fast from something for a week and use this time as holy unto the Lord.
It is a great celebration to remember that the Lord took away our sins and we should honor that and focus on Him. So starting on Friday evening (April 22nd) until Friday evening (April 28th), I am asking you to take this time and consecrate yourselves. Below are a few target areas to consider.
Prayer Items:
Over you and your household.
Peace of Jerusalem and all of Israel (Psalm 122), which is the location He is returning to, Mount of Olives.
For your nation to have a spiritual awakening and turn to Him.
God bless you,

Interesting, we had all come into agreement to do this during our Shabbat fellowship time.
